Has your driving instructor told you that you are ready to take your practical driving test? If you are preparing to book your practical test you will need to have your provisional driving licence and your Theory Test Pass certificate to hand to book your test.  For some that’s no problem, but what happens if you have lost your certificate? Firstly, don’t panic. This happens more often than you might think, and no, you don’t have to re-take your theory test.

To book a practical driving test you will be asked for your theory test certificate number, if you don’t have this you can contact your DVSA and give them your full name as it appears on your driving licence, your licence number and your date of birth. The DVSA will send you a letter which will contain the important theory test certificate number, which will allow you to book your driving test. You can contact the DVSA online by email or by telephone

If you have already booked your practical driving test, then don’t worry as the examiner will check before the test starts that you have passed your theory test and there is no need to get a replacement certificate.

If you have lost your certificate and are having problems booking your practical test, speak to your driving instructor who will be able to advise you.
