Filmed in Kirkby in Ashfield crossing the A38 towards Sutton in Ashfield past the Firestation, this is another area that can catch people unaware as it is not a common road layout.
Key to watch out for is the different lane markings, there is a sign on the approach to remind you of the lanes. These lanes cause experienced drivers problems, not just learner drivers.
You need to keep your wits about you at this junction, it requires you to be very aware of your surroundings and other vehicles and will require excellent planning on the approach to the junction to ensure that you stay safe and avoid the problems lots of people encounter.
On the approach to the junction as well as being aware of the lanes and planning for those you need to also be aware of the school. You need to check your right-hand mirror regularly, as some cars may use the right-hand turning lane before the junction and continue straight ahead. If you are in the middle lane at the junction and are proceeding straight ahead you also need to be aware that cars may be in the left-hand lane and they may not have seen the road markings and may continue straight ahead so you need to check your left-hand mirror regularly.
Make sure you ask your driving instructor to cover this junction if you are struggling or not sure.
